What is the relationship between the United Nations UN and international business? The United Nations has many different purposes stated in the Charter. The Charter states that United Nations are in charge of harmonizing the actions of nations, maintaining the international peace and security, developing friendly relations with other nations, solving internatrional economics, social, cultural, and humanitarian problems while promoting respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms (United Nations, 2004). The United Nations is widely known for many different things. They provide help to people from natural distaster and war. It first ojective is to bring immediate relief to the victims and the second is preventing emergencies from happening. The provide humanitarian assistand and seeks to reduce society of disaster and man made actions. Early warning is top priority so the moniter families, drought, economic growth, disasters, and diseases.
How did the United States become part of the United Nations? Did the president sign and the Senate support it with a two-thirds vote? I would really like some references. I've searched the web and can't find a site that explains how the United States joined the United Nations. I'm wondering if it's true that the United Nations charter overrides the Constitution.
Is the United States contempt for the United Nations the biggest scandal of all? The USA Government continues to be contemptuous of the United Nations thus undermining the credibility and influence of the UN. But the US has over all too many years failed to support the UN financially to the extent that it could and should. The scandal is that America is frighteningly willing to spend billions of dollars on war, but unwilling to spend a fraction of that on peace. The UN gives peace a chance - but the US prefers the sword and treats the UN with contempt. How sad and contemptible is this?
Where can I find easy to understand information on the United Nations? I'm doing a report for school on the United Nations, and it's difficult to find information that is easily understood. The UN website is of no help to me, and is too complicated. My teacher doesn't really like us using Wikipedia, and Google searches aren't yeilding much yet. Links to useful sites with good, simple and to the point information would be appreciated. I need information that includes: Background of the UN, the past and present goals of it, the pros and cons of the United Nations, current events within the last six monthes that concerns it, and the future outlook on the group.
Is the Model United Nations a good organization to join? I'm a freshman in high school, and I feel like I should join more clubs/organizations. Would the Model United Nations be a good one? I'm really interested in foreign affairs and globalization. Can someone please tell me more about MUN? Thanks.
Should the United States and the United Nations work for good newhospitals and medical care in conflict zones? Would this be a good, just and universally welcomed way to help rebuild good will for America and for the United Nations and really help suffering people? I think they would be especially needed and welcomed in Iraq and Afganistan but also in all nations suffering from war, hospitals are needed in peacetime as well, but especially in times of war So they should be some of the first things built in reconstruction efforts right? I'm thinking that hospitals should be located where they would be close enough to help the greatest number of wounded people, especially civilians, but far enough away to keep them from being directly in the line of fire. I really think this is truly the right thing to do, but I'd like to hear any reasons it isn't, thanks. It's not about helping George Bush, it's about helping sick and injured casualties of war, and seeing as how there was no war until we got there I feel like the United States owes it to the Iraqi and Afgani people to help those injured from it. To not help the injured out of spite for Bush is really petty and crappy if you ask me. There's women and Children who need help and we have the resources to help them, we've spent so much money supposedly rebuilding the place why not actually spend some of it well? But I seriously doubt the efforts currently underway are of a scope large enough to really tackle the problem and I've seen a documentary about how people aren't getting treatment for wounds and diseases. I think that getting healthcare to almost everywhere in the world is something that's physically possible, and would be and is one good thing about devolpment. Seems like one of those rare true progress's without doing anything it isn't supposed to, or having unintended and negative side effects.
I would like to work as an interpreter/translator for the United Nations. Where should I start? I have a bachelor degree in International Relations studies. I love learning foreign languages. I have been doing translation/interpretation from Indonesian (my mother tongue) to English. I also have experiences as rapporteur in seminars/workshops as well. I have never attended a formal interpretation training school, however. Can anybody suggest me where to start if I would like to have a career in translation/interpretation, or document checking in international organizations, or maybe in United Nations itself? Thank you.
How can United Nations be contacted about massacre against the Yazidi people? Just read in internet_since the major cable news channels have but ignored the news till now_that probably the Yazidis in Iraq will be completely destroyed at any moment, since most of the bombings which so far have killed more than 500, have been aimed almost entirely at them. Complete villages have been anhiliated as if by atomic bombs! Supposedly this was done using garbage trucks!!! The U.S. believes it's Al Queda's work. Kurds believe it is due to fight of control of area by Kurds and Arabs. And still, a third possibility is the avenging of death of local girl stoned to death by the Yazidis for her relation with an Arab and for becoming a Muslim. Whatever reason any insane mind had to do something so horrendous, someone has to intervene to stop this from happening again. Apparently everyone in the area is expecting more of this anhiliation to go on!!! What is role of the United Nations in Iraq? I've lost track as to what role UN may have, but someone has to do something fast

How prestigious is an NGO to the United Nations in actuality? I understand there are only 7 or so NGOs with official status to the United Nations from India for example, and a limited number from each country. How prestigious is an NGO in actuality? Is it hard to become one, is the process detailed? is it generally considered a great mark for an institution? Does it mean they were doing pretty good?
What is your opinion on the United Nations? My opinion is The United Nations needs to get out of our Country. Did you know they want to control The Internet for the USA? Also, Nance Pelosi wants to pass a bill based on Global Warming. It will apply penalties to other Countries that don't apply. They will get fined and the taxes will go to the UN. Then the money will be disbursed to other Nations. UN needs to go!
Should the United States and other countries form a real United Nations? Obviously the United Nations isn't that productivity considering everything that still occurs on this planet. I think it would be a good idea to get rid of all these separate countries and just form a United Nations or perhaps a United Earth. The choice to join would be voluntary, but the countries that joined would be able to reap the benefits like open borders for example. We could also focus the world's money on more important issues besides war. I believe that worlds problem are most based on trust issues, if you have one nation that clearly takes away that problem. If you disagree let me know. Also would appreciate if anybody could list the advantages and disadvantages of ths plan.
Is it true that the united nations give U.N PASSPORT as a grant to citizens of developing Counties? A friend told me that he received a message from the United Nations passport office in Bangkok, Thailand that he was a successful winner of a U.N PASSPORT grant. He is among 50 lucky persons granted the UN Passport through their(UN) phone numbers extracting and balloting machine. He is asked to send some documents and the amount of 192USD for the UN Passport to be processed and send to him by DHL.
Why is New York sales tax charged at the United Nations gift shop? Yesterday I was at the United Nations gift shop and bought a mug, a set of flags, and a flag base. Despite its status as an international territory that is not a part of the United States (and by extension, New York State and City), I was charged regular New York sales tax on my purchases. Can anyone explain why this is the case?
So do the United Nations still have a meaningful role in international politics? Increasingly, commentators question the viability of the United Nations. They suggest it has (and indeed I guess it has) been deliberately sidelined on several occasions, has had multiple corruption scandals, and still seems beset with inaction and inability to make resolutions. I would really like to hear opinions on its future, if it has any.
Which is an accurate statement about the United Nations today? 1)The United Nations has radically altered its structure and rules of operation. 2) Several major nations have withdrawn from the United Nations because they disagree with its policies. 3)The United Nations has been less successful than the League of Nations in settling conflicts. or 4)Third World nations have formed blocs to influence policies of the United Nations.
Best way to study United Nations history? I'm doing the AS History exam in November and I have to study the United Nations and how it influenced the Cold War. How is the best way to cover all the conflicts where UN has been involved? If someone is studying the same or has already done the exam, I will thank you so much if you could give me some tips to cover all this subject. Thanks.
How We Can Bring the Human Rights Violations in Canada to Attention of the United Nations & US Human Rights? The human rights violations is a very serious issue for many Canadian an people around the World. Canadian media is represnting the Goverment and would attack to the citizens like me if we asked them to be professional. The censorship and harassments of the citizens by police, lawyers, judges and their agents are in breaches of all rights under the Charter. Torture, murder and organazed crimes against citizens by the Goverments of Canada, Ontario and Qubec have craeted ample files before all courts and commissions. The life, wealth, business, and bank account of citizens are in constant harassments by local police, CSIS and RCMP. There is no way to file complaints with US & United Nations Human Rights commissions, as all posts, and internet is fully under control of corrupt justice system, who simply issuing warrents against each and every cirizens. Jails are full of poor citizens, immigrants and refugees who were convicted by corrupt prosecutors, and immigrantion police.
What should I major to work at the United Nations? I am going to be a freshman this fall. For now, my major is Biology as I love it. I am thinking about becoming a physician and work at the WHO but getting into medical school is not a sure thing. My college allows me to double major so I want to minor in a major that would help me get a job at the United Nations after getting my undergrad. what should I do? I also speak two other languages and I am now learning another one as well.
Why does the United nations even exist when they are so useless in worlds issues? From the genocide in Kosovo from the Genocide in Darfur from the genocide in Rwanda from the situation in Somalia where there's been no real Govt since 1991 & the people there just kill each other from the Iraq crises from the crises in Iran from the crises in North Korea from the decades battle between the Palestinians & Israelis the United Nations has stood idly by & done nothing. They should rename themselves the Useless Nations.
Do you know about United Nations university ? I just heard that there is a United Nations University located in NY city and In Tokyo. But the website is very complicated, and seems like it's different from other universities. Anyone have an idea of that school?
What is the United Nations good for? It seems like the United Nations doesn't really do anything but sit around and vote to pass resolutions. They didn't do anything to help Rwanda, when 800,000 people were killed. They had peace keeping troops there, but as soon as some of them were killed, they chickened out and ran away. What are they doing to help the thousands of people that are being killed in Darfur? What are they doing to help the people that are starving in Zimbabwe because of their crazy president? Why should we pay taxes to support them?
The signifigance of United Nations on November 3rd, 1956?
